Call for Panel Discussions

The IJCNN 2011 Organizing Committee solicits proposals for panel discussions within the technical scope of the conference.

IJCNN 2011 will be held in San Jose, California, July 31 - August 5, 2011, and is organized jointly by the International Neural Network Society and the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.

Panel discussions are organized by internationally renowned experts and aim to bring together educators, researchers and practitioners in a focused topic area. Appropriate topic areas include, but are not limited to, the following:

Neural network theory & models.
Computational neuroscience.
Cognitive models.
Brain-machine interfaces.
Embodied robotics.
Evolutionary neural systems.
Neurodynamics.
Neuroinformatics.
Neuroengineering.
Neural hardware.
Neural network applications

Pattern recognition.
Machine vision.
Collective intelligence.
Hybrid systems.
Self-aware systems.
Data mining.
Sensor networks.
Agent-based systems.
Computational biology.
Bioinformatics.
Artificial life.

Panels should address timely, fundamental and, preferably, controversial issues. The format must be debate-oriented to appeal to a wide audience rather than a series of short presentations.

Researchers interested in organizing a special session are invited to submit a formal proposal to the Panels Chair, Simona Doboli (Simona.Doboli _at_ hofstra.edu). Each proposal must include the following information:

Panel title.
Organizer(s)' contact information and CVs.
Panel description.
A short statement about the scope, motivation, importance and relevance of the panel and the potential issues of controversy related to the theme of the conference.
A tentative list of questions that will be posed to the panelists.
A list of panelists along with their affiliations.
A short biographical sketch of each panelist.

Proposals must be submitted electronically by December 15, 2010.
